Leopard creates panic in Banglore school

MERAleopordA male leopard was spotted strolling inside the premises of Vibgyor International School in Bangalore.

A ten hour long effort began, to try to corner the animal, during which a conservation scientist and forestry employee and others were mauled. Footage on the school’s camera also showed it attacking a man near a swimming pool. The leopard was eventually tranquilised and released at a national park. The six injured people have been treated for minor injuries.

A recent wildlife census estimates that India has a leopard population of 12,000 to 14,000. Leopards and big cats have been known to stray into populated areas, as humans encroach on animal habitats.
