According to figures compiled by the Central Industrial Security Force this year 94% of the pickpockets nabbed in Delhi Metro stations are women, with a total of 293 women held as compared to 22 men. One official said women pickpockets camouflage their intentions by operating along with a child or carrying a toddler. The Force that is tasked with securing the 134 Metro stations hand over the men and women pickpockets to the local police for action under law. Last year of a total 466 pickpockets held across the Delhi metros, 421 were women. The Force also recovered over Rs.29.56 lakhs and valuables worth over Rs.16 lakhs from the transit system this year.
