Man buried alive in large pothole in Madhya Pradesh !

MERApotoleLatori Barman, 45, was walking home from a fair in Katni, when he fell into a large pothole in the road and lost consciousness.

Officials say the man was probably inebriated when he fell into the pit and workers probably did not notice him, when they filled the pothole with bitumen before they used a heavy roller to flatten the surface.

Police arrested several road workers and say the accident would have gone unnoticed had residents not discovered the man’s arm protruding from the tarred road.

150,000 people die on Indian roads each year. This death is the latest linked to India’s potholes, also known as ‘killer craters’, and in one city residents have resorted to naming individual potholes after prominent officials to draw attention to the poor road conditions.
