Millions seized from Malappuram passport officer’s residence

CBI officers have seized Rs.1.3 million and 80 gold sovereigns from the residence of the Malappuram Regional Passport Officer P Ramakrishnan.

A raid simultaneously carried out at his other residence in Kannur also yielded documents that proved he possesses disproportionate assets worth millions.

The CBI laid the trap for Ramakrishnan after they received a host of complaints he accepted money, and the CBI Kochi unit laid a trap and arrested Ramakrishnan when he was taking Rs.50,000 from an applicant for the renewal of his passport, who is understood to be serving the United Nations.

The CBI also booked his middleman Abdul Aamir of Malappuram.
