MP Seema Malhotra appointed shadow secretary in UK

INGsmalhotraSeema Malhotra, 43, who succeeded the late Alan Keen (Conservative) as MP for the London seat of Feltham and Heston in 2011, has now been appointed shadow chief secretary for treasury, by new Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn, who was elected leader of Britain’s main Opposition Labour Party in a landslide vote in London.

In 2014 Malhotra was given the newly created role of shadow minister for preventing violence against girls and women by the then Labour leader Ed Miliband.

Malhotra will be shadow chancellor for John McDonnell’s number two in the shadow treasury.

Malhotra was born in Hammersmith and worked in business consultancy, including for corporate giant PwC, before she entered parliament.
