Non-Resident Keralites global meet to be held in Kochi

The Kerala government is to organise a Non-Resident Keralites (NRK) global meet in Kochi on Jan 16-17 2015. A state government official announced that some 1000 delegates are expected to attend both from home and abroad. Online registration is to begin soon and the focus is to get maximum participants from European countries. There will be separate registration fees for participants from India and those from abroad. The last such event was held after the Oommen Chandy government assumed office in 2011. Chandy will take part in the 2015 event and sessions will include investment opportunities for the diaspora. A session will also be held where people can express their problems and suggest solutions. A separate session for emigrants will also be held. The state government is keen to invite minister of external affairs Sushma Swaraj to inaugurate the meet.
