The Hans Foundation, founded by billionaire entrepreneur Manoj Bhargav, has pledged Rs.500 crore to fund development in Uttarakhand. The initiative was announced on the occasion of Hans Foundation's fifth anniversary, and was welcomed by Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat. CM Rawat said a lot of work is being done by the organisation in the state at the individual level, as thousands are being helped especially in the health care sector where two hospitals have been established already. The contribution of Rs.500 crore, a part of the Foundation's Uttarakhand 2020 project is to be given to the state over a period of six years and is set to be used to significantly improve the quality of life of low-income communities in the state. The project focuses on malnourishment, disease prevention, clean drinking water, education and environment regeneration. Manoj Bhargav is also the founder of '5-Hour Energy', a popular energy drink in the US.
