NRI diplomat awarded for his services in Singapore

ingeGopinath Pillai, 78, who is the Ambassador-at-large of Singapore and special envoy to Andhra Pradesh has been given the ‘Outstanding Service Award’ for his service to the city-state by the National University of Singapore.

Pillai a former journalist has worked in a number of disciplines including banking and now is chairman of Information Technology company Savant Infocomm, and a director of Gateway Distriparks Ltd in India.

He has contributed to Singapore through his service as a diplomat for more than 25 years. He has and is involved in agencies ranging from NTUC FairPrice Cooperative Ltd and Ang Mo Kio-Thye Hua Kwan Hospital and has had a substantial impact on the social fabric of Singapore.
