dr-shamsheer-vayalilExternal Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj has received a cheque for Rs.1 crore from a UAE NRI doctor who believes that India, becoming a bigger economic player in the world, and ‘Swachh Bharat’ go hand in hand.

Dr Shamsheer Vayalil told the India Development Foundation of Overseas Indians, a non-profit Government trust chaired by Minister Swaraj, that invokes and invites NRIs PIOs and OCI card holders to donate to development projects.

Founded in 2008, the Foundation made it possible for overseas Indians to donate online in August this year. In a video message to overseas Indians Minister Swaraj said ‘the money is not just a donation, it is a way to connect to your roots and a way to repay your debt to your motherland, and express your emotional attachment to your country’.
