NRI husband complains of harassment by wife

Jalandhar nriUK NRI Ripudaman Singh 43, has complained to the NRI Jalandhar Rural Police of harassment at the hands of his wife and in-laws. He also alleged that a false case of dowry has been registered against him.

Singh told the media he married a girl from a village near Philaur in 2009 and was at the time living in Germany even though he is an English citizen. He said 3 months after the marriage he returned to Germany and asked his wife to learn the German language, and sent the money though Western Union, as well as her paperwork to get a German visa, that was refused for undisclosed reasons.

His wife then left her in-laws home and began living with her parents, and her brothers always asked for money, but when he was reluctant to give her money they threatened him they would register a case under the dowry act and also demanded Rs.30 lakhs, which he refused. The wife eventually filed a case under the Dowry Act against him.

He also alleged that he was arrested by police at Delhi Airport in 2015 and remained under arrest for 25 days before his wife paid his bail. They then took him to her place where they physically harassed him and also transferred his FD money to his wife’s name.

The Police admitted they have received the complaint and the matter is still under investigation.
