NRI journalist held on charges of paedophilia in Britian

CRIMhgafoorHasan Suroor 65, was arrested by the British Transport Police following a sting operation by an anti-paedophile vigilante group, Unknown TV.

Suroor was waiting to meet a 14-year-old girl he has been having sexually explicit conversations with.

Reports say Suroor was involved in ‘sexualy grooming’ the child with messages like “I will be gentle’. Hasan Surour of Sloan Avenue, Kensington and Chelsea was arrested at Deptford Bridge station and is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates Court.

Suroor pleaded innocence but admitted to exchanging explicit texts with the girl and offering to buy condoms for her.

Saroor has been a columnist for The Indian Express and The Hindu and a regular contributor for The Guardian. He said the girl came on Facebook herself and he was just waiting to buy her coffee. He asked if he could be let go with a warning as he has a clean record. A video that has gone viral on the Internet shows Suroor admitting to having had conversations of a sexual nature with a minor.

A recent spate of high profile paedophilia cases has made Britain deal with the issue of child sex with an iron fist. In a recent 6-month operation the National Crime Agency arrested 660 suspected paedophiles across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland and saved more than 400 children across the UK. Some of those arrested included doctors, teachers, scout leaders, care workers and former police officers.
