Rakesh Punn, 57, a pediatrician from New York, who had pleaded guilty last year to producing child pornography, has been sentenced to 30 years in jail for sexual exploitation of a child and producing child pornography.
Punn admitted in 2007 that he had sexually exploited a minor patient during a medical appointment at his home-office. He falsely diagnosed the child with an illness so he could get access to her without her parents being present, then he drugged and secretly photographed the girl.
The court found that Punn used a pattern of similar conduct with other patients as well. Then again in 2014 he admitted to sexually abusing an 11-year-old girl who was a patient in his office.
