NRI pleads guilty to sending ex-employer damaging computer code

CRIMinsidIT Manager Nikhil Nilesh Shah, 33, of New Jersey has pleaded guilty before a US magistrate of North Carolina to one felony count of sending a damaging computer code to servers at his former employer, causing damage to the computers.

According to the indictment Shah was an info-tech manager at a company that developed platforms for the creation of mobile applications, and subsequently he left the firm to work for another technology company.

In June 2012, Shah sent malicious computer code to his former company’s servers in Durham and Raleigh causing some $5000 in damaging and deleting much of the company’s intellectual property.

Shah is scheduled to be sentenced on December this year.
