NRI quota medical students require Gujarat domicile certificate

NRISSgujThe Admission Committee for Medical and Paramedical Courses has decided that students wanting admission to medical and paramedical courses on the 15% NRI quota will have to produce a domicile certificate.

The domicile certificate is issued to prove that the person is a resident of Gujarat and is required as proof of residence to avail of resident quotas in education institutions and in the government service.

Officials said the certificate was required for NRI sponsored students because students from other states were getting sponsorships from NRIs and seeking admission in Ahmedabad, which was preventing Gujarat students from getting admission.

The Committee has also sought the opinion of the Medical Council of India over conducting an entrance examination for NRIs or NRI sponsored students.
