NRI teen to PM Modi : listen to voices of Kashmiris

kashmir-curfewAn NRI of Kashmir origin age 17, has written an open letter to PM Narendra Modi pleading that the voices of agitating Kashmiris be heard.

Living in Georgia state in the USA, Fatima Shaheen’s letter read “Dear Mr PM if we cared for Kashmir people we would not find ways to turn off all communications in the Valley, only to further deprive them of freedom Because isn’t that all Kashmir people are asking for?”

Fatima added that when she arrived in Kashmir on July 10 for a visit to relatives she found the Valley in a situation that she had never heard of. She reminded Mr Modi of the attack in Nice, France and the military coup in Turkey that was covered by the media, but there was no news on Kashmir, and she wonders if this was the reason she never knew what was happening in her hometown for a long time.

She continued, saying everyone wants Kashmir but no one cares for the people of the land, because if we cared we would not care about people’s opinion on whether Burhan Wani was a militant or a martyr, they would try to understand why an ace student chose to continue his career holding a gun rather than a pen (sic).
