Priya Gopal-Walker, 17, will represent Washington in the 2015 Miss Teen USA Pageant to be held in the Bahamas in August. She entered the pageant after winning the Miss Washington Teen USA crown.
She is half Indian and half American and a student at the Academy of Arts and Sciences in Seattle.
Gopal-Walker was to compete in 2012 but pulled out as she was facing physical and emotional abuse, that she now said she would like to use with her title to spread awareness on domestic violence.
She said she took time to restore her life and has a strong message of hope for children who feel there is none. She now lives with foster parents who love her like she is their own.
