NRI to develop hospital and Jog Falls resort in Karnataka

jog-fallsKarnataka origin NRI businessman B R Shetty, who is based in Abu Dhabi and owns real estate in the Burj Khalifa tower, is to develop a large government hospital in Udupi, and upgrade the popular tourist destination the Jog Falls in Shimoga region.

The cabinet headed by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah approved the two projects and okayed an MoU after consulting the law, finance, and health departments. Law Minister T B Jayachandra said land for the special hospital will be given on lease for 30 years.

Under the deal the existing health centre will also be developed by B R Shetty and under the MoU, B R Shetty Ventures Ltd will build the 400-bed specialty hospital at Rs.200 crore.

In a tweet the CM said apart from making Jog a perennial waterfall they plan to create world-class facilities including a water fantasy park, resort and 5-star hotel.

Over the years Mr Shetty has enjoyed a good rapport with governments in Karnataka.
