NRI volunteers help AAP raise campaign funds

Canadian NRI Sumesh Handa, and a team of young Aam Aadmi Party volunteers recently spent hours phoning thousands of eligible voters in Timarpur and Tilaknagar constituencies of Delhi, and discussed civic and infrastructural issues of the two seats and AAP campaign promises. Over two months AAP's NRI volunteers adopted 10 constituencies in Delhi that needed help by the Party and assigned them to the units abroad, most of which are rural constituencies where raising money is not easy. AAP's supporters abroad address the challenges of funding faced by the party, and almost a fourth of the party's donations come from overseas supporters in the US, Canada, UAE, Singapore and UK, as well as a few other countries that together make up over 25% of the Rs.13.5 crore collected by the party since last November. Recently NRI volunteers who are software engineers also designed special software to scan the roll to identify duplicate names and the list was submitted to the poll panel that forced it to rectify its voter list.
