For the second time Mercer’s Quality of Living has ranked Hyderabad as the best Indian city to live in. Hyderabad did however slip one place lower to 139th in the world, than last year’s rank of 138. Austrian capital Vienna ranked 1st as the world’s best city with the best quality of living.
In India Hyderabad ranked at the top because of its relatively lower crime rate, reduced air pollution, and improved options for international and reputable English medium schools. It slipped one place because of its increased power disruptions and extreme weather situation. It also offers a more cosmopolitan environment and higher standard of living at affordable rates. Real estate prices are reasonable.
Pune came in a close second at 144 whereas the upscale metropolises Mumbai and Delhi ranked far below at 152 and 144 respectively. Chennai ranked 150 but was named one of the safest cities along with Hyderabad and Pune.
