Since an agreement between the two nations was signed in January last year some 500,000 Indians got jobs in Saudi Arabia taking the total number of workers from India in the Kingdom to 3 million. Indians are now the largest group of expats in the Kingdom.
The agreement was signed last year to manage and organise the recruitment of workers. It exists only to ensure that the rights of Indian citizens who wish to work abroad are guaranteed and maintained.
Reports say recruitment offices, not embassy officials are responsible for the pricing, while costs are usually determined by market demand.
