Passenger in short dress banned from IndiGo flight

HAPPindigoA former employee of IndiGo who was wearing a short dress that ended above her knees was banned from boarding an IndiGo flight in Mumbai. The woman’s brother is currently an IndiGo employee and she was travelling on a free ticket provided to relatives of staff.

One airline official said since the woman was using the staff privilege she was bound to observe the dress code, that does not allow an employee or their kin to wear a dress that stops above the knee.

The official admitted that the manner in which the matter was handled was inappropriate as the woman was stopped by 3 IndiGo staffers when she was about to board a Mumbai Delhi flight. She missed the flight as they badgered her with questions till she agreed to change into a pair of trousers, and fly on a later flight.

IndiGo confirmed the incident and reiterated that the dress code applied to employees and their family members. However they too said the issue was badly handled and the staff will be sensitised.
