Punjab cop’s wife has him killed to marry unseen NRI

MERApunwomanSukhdeep Kaur had her police constable husband Jasvir Singh murdered, just so she could marry an NRI youth she met on social networking sites, and never in person.

Kaur paid 3 contract killers Rs.500,000 to kill her husband whose decomposed body was recovered from a canal near Karnal.

The police arrested Sukhdeep Kaur, Jagtar Singh, Gurjinder Singh and Sahib Singh of Patiala. They say the accused mixed sleeping pills in Jasvir’s water, then removed his outer garments and threw him into the Bhakra canal. They also destroyed his uniform. Some time later Kaur filed a missing person complaint with the police claiming her husband had left for work but never returned.

The killing came to light when Sahib Singh was arrested with two others in connection with an attack on a police party. During interrogation he clarified that his accomplices were Jagtar Singh and Gurjinder Singh.

Police say NRI Harjit Singh 29, from Bathinda was working in Bahrain and was unaware of the marital status of Sukhdeep who has a son age 14. Police gave the NRI a clean chit when he returned to India a short while ago, and police contacted his family in Bathinda. Harjit was quizzed and it turned out he had not even met the wife of the murdered constable. In her interrogation Kaur said she knew that to marry the NRI she must kill her husband.
