Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that Russia will remain India's most important defence partner as Moscow offered to fully manufacture one of its most advanced helicopters in the country. India and Russia also agreed to exploit the unlimited opportunities in defence cooperation, as PM Modi held talks with visiting Russian President Vladimir Putin in Delhi. Modi said Russia has been a pillar of strength for India's development and the two countries discussed how to align defence relations to India's priorities, including Make in India. He also proposed Russia should locate manufacturing facilities in India for components for Russian defence equipment in India. The two countries also signed an agreement for training of Indian armed forces personnel in the military educational establishments in Russia.
