Saina and Srikanth make history for Badminton in China

Saina Nehwal and K Srikanth clinched the women's and men's singles title of the $700,000 China Open Super Series Premier. Olympic bronze medalist Saina prevailed over 17 year old Akane Yamaguchi of Japan in the women's final that lasted 42 minutes, while 21-year-old Srikanth produced a dominating performance and saw off five time world champion Lin in the men's final that lasted 46 minutes. This is the first time an Indian male shuttler has won a Super Series Premier event ever. Srikanth won the Thailand Open Grand Prix Gold last year, finished runner-up at the 2014 India Open Grand Prix Gold event in Lucknow, and was a quarter finalist in this year's Malaysian Open.
