Seven British NRIs on list of Britain’s most influential Asians

INGinfasiansSeven British-Indians are in the top 10 of the GG2 Power 101 list, whose leadership awards recognise and reward achievers within ethnic minorities and celebrate the best of multicultural Britain.

The list was topped by Pakistan-origin business secretary Sajid Javid, with the NRI Hinduja brothers of the Hinduja Group in the second place. In third place was Priti Patel followed by Arcelor Mittal steel magnate Lakshmi Mittal and wife Usha. Fifth on the list is Ameet Gill who is PM David Cameron’s speech writer and a trusted advisor.

Seventh is Rakesh Kapoor, Chief Executive of Reckitt Benckiser. Eighth is Venkatraman Ramakrishnan, Nobel winner for chemistry and ninth is Anish Kapoor the Briton sculptor who is famous for his ‘Cloud Gate’ sculpture in the US.

Catwalk model Neelam Gill and sitar player and composer Anoushka Shankar also feature in the list.

The Leadership Awards were presented at the 17th annual Awards dinner in London.
