Shiv Sena MLA from Nanded, Hemant Patil, and an aide, refused to accept side berth seats in the 2nd AC coach on the Devgiri Express, and incited the group accompanying them to keep on pulling the chain, to make sure the train did not move out of the station, thereby making it late by close to an hour.
The ruckus delayed two other long-distance trains as well as 4 local trains, causing a crowd of over 1000 people on the platforms.
Central Railway General Manager Sunil Kumar said he will institute an inquiry into the incident, while a Sena spokesperson and legislator Neelam Gorhe, declined to comment saying what Patil may have done was in his personal capacity.
One passenger on the train rightly said if a regular passenger had made such a scene, he would have been hauled off to jail. Why are elected reps allowed to get away with such behaviour.
