Singapore NRI woman charged with falsifying salary records

CRIMsalaParmjit Kaur a former director of a bar and dining chain called Harry’s International, has been charged with 20 counts of making false declarations of salaries to the government in work pass applications to the Controller of Work Passes.

Investigations found that Kaur instructed her subordinates to declare the fixed salaries of a foreign employee would be 3,100 dollars as required, whereas she knew that the foreign employees would in fact be paid less than what was declared in their work pass applications.

Kaur’s case has been adjourned to December and if found guilty she faces a maximum fine of 20,000 dollars and could be sentenced for up to two years.

In 2014, the ministry also recovered 32,000 dollars fine from the director of the Indian restaurant, the Blue Diamond, for making false declarations.
