The medical and non-medical staff at the Sola Civil Hospital broke into a spontaneous ‘Garba’ and partied to the sounds of loud music, celebrating the Navratri festival in the intensive care unit that had just seen the inauguration of a kidney dialysis centre.
The doctors, male and female, and ward boys and girls danced as they made their rounds, as stunned patients and their visitors watched dumbfounded.
The hospital administration seemed unaware of the party and later the medical superintendent ordered them to stop. He said he would serve show cause notices on all who took part in the song-and-dance celebration.
The head of the ENT department took a different view saying music does not have an adverse effect on patients, and in fact music could be good therapy for those suffering with ill health.
