Supreme Court pulls up Search Engines over gender selection ads

Sex-SelectionThe Supreme Court of India has rebuked the three companies after concluding that their search engines violated Indian laws by hosting advertisements for tools, kits, and clinics, that assist in determining the sex of a foetus, aka Prenatal sex determination, that was made illegal in India in 1994, in order to prevent sex-selective abortions.

The Court has asked the companies to do something about such ads on their search engines. They have also been asked to meet with technical experts who are able to suggest steps to prevent such forms of illegal ads from appearing on their websites.
