Tamil Nadu political workers caught bribing voters

CORRUPtamilpoliPolitical workers in Tamil Nadu’s Panruti assembly constituency have been caught on camera bribing voters, with the going rate for a vote being Rs.1000.

In the video a group of men are seen leaving a house after giving the voters money, and one is heard saying ‘vote for two leaves, which is the ruling AIADMK party symbol.

After the video clip went public the AIADMK blamed the DMK saying it is doing the bribing, which the DMK denied, and responded ‘let them take action if they say it is true’. Authorities also suspect that cash was transported in ambulances in some instances.

The election Commission has for the first time, incorporated information technology and involved the Tax Department to address the issue. Officials say every SMS alert tip off and online complaints are acted upon.
