The arrangement is aimed at attracting more tourists and raising India’s image as a global tourist destination. It also aims to address security concerns, helping tourists access telecoms services to make calls.
Reports say the scheme was approved by the home ministry, and a few more clearances are awaited, after which the scheme is to be implemented.
