US lawmakers’ bill prevents Indian companies hiring H-1B employees

H1B1A bipartisan group of 2 US lawmakers has introduced a legislation in the House of Representatives which, if passed by Congress will prevent Indian companies from hiring IT professionals on H-1B and L1 work visas.

Since a majority of Indian companies are dependent on H-1B and L1 visas in the US, the bill is likely to have a major impact, or even sound the death knell on their businesses.

The H-1B and L-1 Visa reform Act of 2016, introduced by Democratic Congressman Bill Pascrell from New Jersey, and Republican Dana Rohrabacher from California, will prohibit companies hiring H-1B employees if they employ over 50 people and more than 50 percent of their employees are H1-B and L-1 visa holders.
