US NRI entrepreneur Frank Islam awarded UP Ratna

INGENfislamEntrepreneur and philanthropist Frank Islam has received the inaugural UP Ratna Award for his contribution to Uttar Pradesh. Islam’s friend Dr Fazal Khan accepted the award on Islam’s behalf from UP CM Akilesh Yadav on the UP Pravasi Diwas inaugural day in Agra.

Islam expressed his gratitude for the award and praised the UP government for engaging the diaspora to participate in the development of the state. Last year he announced a $2 million contribution to Aligarh Muslim University for building a new management school. He also pledged to provide financial support to develop a technical training school for women in Azamgarh, where he was born.

Islam founded the technology firm QSS Company in 1994, that he grew to having over 2000 employees and achieved sales of $300 million, before he sold it in 2007.
