US NRI industrialist given Gandhi Medal at House of Lords

Rahul Shukla, CEO of S.S. White Technologies, New Jersey, has been awarded the Mahatma Gandhi Pravasi Samman award by the NRI Society of India at a ceremony at London's House of Lords. The NRI welfare society is an international organisation based in India that connects NRIs with India, and recognises those Indians who have made their mark overseas for outstanding services, achievements and keeping the flag of India flying high. Each year the society selects 30 NRIs globally for the award. Shukla is a successful industrialist, a noted Gujarati writer and public speaker. He is a self-made man. S S White group of companies is a legendary company founded in 1844, and its products are displayed at the Smithsonian. Shukla joined the company in 1973 as a shift inspector and 15 years later he bought the company, that today is considered a world leader in flexible shaft technology. Its subsidiary SHUKLA Medical is a leader in extraction tools for orthopedic implants, that is headquartered in Piscataway NJ. Its India plant in Surendranagar makes seat parts for cars made in the US, Japan and Europe. A techie, photographer, motivational speaker and movie buff, Shukla is married to Meena Rawal and they live in Warren NJ.
