US NRI techie sentenced for sending malware to ex-employer

CRIMmalwareNikhil Nilesh Shah, 33, of New Jersey, has been sentenced to 30 months in prison and a fine of $324,462 for sending malware to his former employer’s servers, causing financial losses.

Shah was an info tech manager at a company in North Carolina that developed platforms for the creation of mobile applications. He admitted in 2012 that he left the company to join another tech firm and that same year he sent malicious computer code to the company’s computer servers in Durham and Raleigh, North Carolina, deleting much of its intellectual property.
