US NRIs agree to adopt 250 villages in Andhra Pradesh

NRINITIaPradA number of NRIs have come forward to adopt 250 villages under the Smart Village Smart Ward programme in Andhra Pradesh inspired by the presentation made by N Lokesh, coordinator, Telugu Desam Workers Welfare Fund, during his visit to the US.

Mr Lokesh shared details about the programme and its importance to transform the villages in the State and the vision of Chief Minister N Chandrabu Naidu to develop Andhra Pradesh as one of the best three States in the country by 2022.

One NRI, Komati Jayaram recalled his association with Mr Naidu and said though they are far from their mother land they are connected to their native villages and collective rather than individual efforts would ensure speedy results.

The Telugu Times editor Chennuri Subba Rao announced that he would adopt his native village Chennur in Krishna district.
