Vedic brahmins to conduct homa for Oman ruler

The Indian community in Oman has arranged to fly in Bangalore based astrologer Chandrashekar Swami and 22 vedic brahmins to conduct a five day homa ritual to pray for the well being of HH Sultan Qaboos bin Said Al Said, 72, who is reportedly suffering with colon cancer and has been receiving treatment for the past few months. The team are staying in Muscat as guests of the Sultan. A special camp site has been created near Muscat airport, to perform the five-day ritual, and a number of people, especially NRIs in Oman will take part in the homa. The Swami and his team are to be paid around Rs.30 lakhs as an honorarium for performing the homa. Sultan Qaboos has been undergoing medical treatment in Germany since July, and a statement issued by the royal court said the Sultan is in good health and continuing to follow the medical treatment he has been prescribed.
