Women account for 2% of central forces – but 40% of suicides !

According to data from the National Crime Records Bureau and the Bureau of Police Research and Development on accidental deaths and suicides, there were, in 2014, as many as 73 of 175 people who died of accidents or suicides.

This shows that of the nearly 930,000 people employed in the various forces, just a bit over 18,000 were women compared to over 910,000 men.

This also means that the suicide rate for women in paramilitary forces is 396.9 per 100,000 compared to just 11.2 per 100,000 for men, clearly suggesting that women in these units face a far higher degree of stress.
