Women workers strip searched at Kochi company

Three women who worked with Asma Rubber Private Ltd, a surgical gloves manufacturing company in Kochi have been booked for conducting strip searches of over 30 women employees aged between 25-50 to find out who left a used sanitary napkin in a washroom. Police registered cases against the three under various sections of the IPC after a complaint was filed by the abused women. The incident triggered outrage with women activists condemning the humiliating action, while management suspended a Supervisor, Assistant Supervisor and sub staffer after other workers protested. The MD of the company stated the unit has been temporarily closed, and the suspension of the three women does not mean they committed a crime.
